Files and Spaces

Store and share files

Choose File Manager or Spaces, upload safely, create scoped access and share files without exposing internal storage.

Before you start

  • Select the workspace that owns the files and pays for storage.
  • Decide whether people will manage the files in the dashboard or an application will access them through a Space.
  • Know the required storage allowance, accepted file types and maximum file size.
  • For application access, decide the smallest folder and read, write or delete permissions the integration needs.

Choose the storage experience that matches the job.

1. Choose File Manager or Spaces

  • File Manager is for files that workspace members browse and organize from Ghost Deploy.
  • Spaces are for applications, scripts, integrations and controlled public sharing.
  • Both belong to a workspace and use separately metered storage. They are not application disks or database storage.

2. Upload and organize files

  1. 1Open the correct workspace storage area and confirm the path preview.
  2. 2Create folders before uploading when the files need a stable structure.
  3. 3Upload the file and wait for completion before closing the page.
  4. 4Open supported images, video, audio, PDF or text files in preview and verify the result.
  5. 5Use download to confirm that a critical uploaded file can be retrieved.

3. Share files or connect an application

Use a share link for controlled human access. For an application, create a labelled Space access key, restrict its base folder and grant only the actions it needs. The branded Spaces endpoint hides the underlying storage provider.

4. Control usage and billing

  1. 1Set the storage allowance required for the current billing term.
  2. 2Enable automatic increases only when uninterrupted uploads matter more than a fixed ceiling.
  3. 3Set a maximum storage limit and surge notifications for unexpected growth.
  4. 4Remember that reductions and cancellations take effect at the next billing term; current paid capacity remains available until then.

If something does not work

  • Upload rejected: check the access key permission, base folder, allowed file type, size limit and workspace quota.
  • Preview is blank: download the file to distinguish an unsupported browser preview from a damaged upload.
  • Application receives access denied: confirm the key is active and the requested object is inside its allowed base path.
  • Share link fails: verify that the link has not expired or been revoked.
  • Storage suddenly increased: inspect activity, rotate exposed keys and review autoscale notifications.
