# Manage your workspace

Switch workspaces, update settings and addresses, understand ownership, storage defaults and subscription effects.

## Before you start

- Confirm the active workspace in the top bar before changing settings.

- Know whether the workspace is the protected initial personal workspace or an organisation workspace.

- Prepare complete billing address details when adding an address.

- Review the active package before expecting an application, domain, database, backup or storage capability.

Use the top workspace selector first, then open the setting you need.
- [Open Workspace Settings](/dashboard/workspace-settings) — Manage workspace identity, addresses and defaults.
- [Open Subscription](/dashboard/subscription) — Review the active package and renewal details.
- [Create Another Workspace](/dashboard/workspaces/create) — Create a separate workspace when the package and account allow it.

## 1. Choose the workspace you intend to manage

The workspace selector changes the applications, domains, databases, files, Spaces, billing and settings shown throughout the customer panel. Search does not remove the Create New Workspace action at the bottom of the selector.

## 2. Update workspace identity and addresses

1. Open Workspace Settings and select General to review the name and workspace type.
2. Open Addresses to add a labelled billing address.
3. Set one saved address as the default. Choosing a new default removes the marker from the previous address.
4. Use the view, edit or delete actions on each address. Billing can still use another saved address or a temporary address when offered.
5. Save each section and wait for confirmation before navigating away.

## 3. Understand ownership protections

The creator is the workspace owner. The initial personal workspace is protected and cannot be converted to an organisation or transferred. Organisation workspaces can support those actions when the required multi-user and permission features are available.

## 4. Configure storage defaults carefully

Workspace storage defaults control automatic increases, scheduled reductions, maximum storage and surge notifications for File Manager or Spaces that choose to inherit them. A storage area can override the defaults unless it is explicitly set to use workspace defaults.

## 5. Check package-dependent capabilities

- Application, transfer, domain and database limits apply to the active workspace.
- Wildcard domains, custom system pages and backup policies can depend on the package.
- Storage is billed separately even when workspace settings provide default behaviour.
- A failed or incomplete checkout can still appear in the dashboard so the customer can understand what happened.

> **success:** After a setting is saved, refresh another panel page and confirm that the same workspace remains active and the changed value is still shown.

## If something does not work

- Workspace not found appears briefly: reselect the workspace and retry. If refresh consistently fixes it, report the route and time so the selection race can be investigated.

- A feature is missing: confirm the active workspace and package entitlement before assuming the account lacks access.

- An address cannot be deleted: select a different default billing address first when the current workflow requires one.

- Storage controls are disabled: turn off Use workspace defaults for that storage area before entering overrides.

- Ownership actions are absent: the workspace may be the protected initial personal workspace or your role may not permit the action.
